New York State Radiological Society
Radiation Oncology Committee Report
August, 2001
Karen Fountain, M.D., Chairperson
There has been a great deal of activity with new and revised radiation oncology billing codes which will benefit radiation oncologists in New York State.
Appropriate billing codes are being refined for intravascular brachytherapy, an exciting new modality employed by radiation oncologists to lessen the risk of coronary and other vascular restenosis.
CCI edits are
being developed for E/M (evaluation and management) codes
coupled to simulation filming and treatment planning.
Prostate seed billing issues are being addressed.
IMRT site visits are being scheduled by CMS (HCFA) to confirm the RUV radiation oncology CAC representatives were able to obtain at the RUC.
