The Society of Interventional Radiology has endorsed the Society for Vascular Surgery's Vascular Registry, the first national registry for the collection of carotid stent data. CMS requires that institutions performing carotid stenting collect and review their carotid stent data every six months, with required submission of data beginning January 2007.
American College of Radiology and American College of Cardiology are also working together with the Society of Interventional Radiology on carotid stent registries, which will be available in the future.
