e-FACS.org

The mission of the American College of Surgeons Web portal — e-FACS.org — is to expand the College's role as an information resource on patient care for the various surgical specialties and on advances in bioscience, research, and health policy by providing its members with a personalized gateway to the Internet that will (1) filter and facilitate their access to Web-based information; (2) initiate and facilitate collaboration and exchange of ideas among members; and (3) provide a secure, single sign-on service that will be the entry point of access to organized Web information coming from the College and other validated and reputable sources. In addition to Fellows of the American College of Surgeons, a few select groups are allowed access to the portal, including Associate Fellows of the College, surgical residents, and medical students. While several electronic tools are available only to Fellows, there are many resources available to everyone who has access. A key feature of the portal is its use of communities, many of which are of great educational value to residents.
